She finished her PhD with honours in sociology at the Technical University Darmstadt in 2020. She has been teaching and researching in various interdisciplinary research settings at the Humboldt-University Berlin, the Free University Berlin, the Berlin School of Economics and Law, the Technical University Darmstadt and was a fellow at the University of Bristol and the University of Leeds (UK). Since October 2021 she is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Tuebingen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maria Keil is specialised in the sociology of social inequality, the sociology of education and science, general sociological theory, and transition research. Her research focusses on social inequalities in educational and academic settings and within the conduct of life in stratified societies. Her work follows a theoretical as well as an empirical-qualitative research approach and she works primarily with structural and practice theories and the grounded theory methodology. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-atomic-blocks-ab-accordion ab-block-accordion\"><details><summary class=\"ab-accordion-title\"><strong>Current Research<\/strong><\/summary><div class=\"ab-accordion-text\">\n<p><strong>Transitions into Social Class<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How do young people perceive social inequality and when and how do they develop a sense of their own place? Whereas European class analysis generally focusses on adults, youth studies centre around educational inequalities. The aim of the research project is to close this gap by raising the question of how adolescents perceive and produce social class inequality in the transitional nexus of school, labour market, family, and peers.
