Pia Schober is a professor of Sociology, in particular microsociology, at the Sociology Department of the University of Tübingen. Her research focuses on family and education processes across different social policy contexts. Within these areas, she is particularly interested in gender socialisation and reproduction processes at various life course transitions: across education institutions, from the labour market into unpaid family work and back. For these transitions she aims at understanding how policy institutions, in particular family policy, labour market policy and early childhood education and care institutions structure these transitions and contribute to setting social norms. Furthermore, she is interested in exploring family and socialisation processes in a longitudinal perspective. She is mostly applying quantitative social research methods.
