Dissertation Project
The dissertation project examines deep brain stimulation therapy from a social science perspective and aims to research the current developments, discourses, and practices surrounding DBS. A sociotechnical approach is pursued, focusing on non-human actors as well. Attention is given to the various networks and elements involved in the therapy, such as medications, the condition itself, and the DBS (significant materialities), patient organizations, different groups of involved physicians, medical staff, conventions, standards, and effective discourses. The study is based on a qualitative situational analysis design.
