The international conference „Situating Transitions: New Horizons in Research of Life Course Transitions“, which will take place on 6-8 October 2025 at the University of Tübingen, marks the final event of the collaborative research training group Doing Transitions, funded by the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG) since 2017.
With this conference, we take up the ongoing debate on reflexive research of life course transitions. In particular, we want to open transition studies for global south perspectives and discuss to what extent neighbouring fields of research such as gender, family, or educational studies benefit from reflexive transition studies. The program features keynote lectures by Raka Ray, Elizabeth Shove, Felipe Torres, Maria Keil, and Kevin Stützel, as well as 46 presentations in twelve panel sessions, offering a rich and diverse academic experience.
